Job Responsibilities

The Conveyor Belt Technician is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of conveyor belts and systems. This role involves both workshop-based tasks and extensive fieldwork at customer sites.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

    • Installation & Maintenance
    • Ensure conveyor belts and systems operate effectively according to customer specifications.
    • Identify and troubleshoot basic conveyor system components, including splicing, belt cleaning, and pulley lagging.
    • Perform disassembly and removal of components to facilitate maintenance and repairs.
    • Load trucks with tools, materials, and equipment for conveyor belt installation and maintenance.
    • Splicing & Repairs
    • Conduct mechanical, step, and finger splices using both hot and cold repair methods.
    • Assemble and dismantle cleaner systems, activating and deactivating as necessary.
    • Perform pulley lagging, including preparation and application of adhesives and primers.
    • Complete buffing, trimming, and sealing of conveyor belts.
    • Customer Service & Communication
    • Work collaboratively with co-workers, supervisors, and customers to ensure high-quality service.
    • Professionally represent the company at customer sites and maintain positive client relations.
    • Address on-site customer issues and escalate concerns to the appropriate personnel (Solution Specialist, Foreman, or Service Manager).
    • Safety & Compliance
    • Maintain a safe work environment and comply with company and customer-specific safety regulations.
    • Demonstrate proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials.
    • Report any faulty parts or equipment immediately to the Service Supervisor or Shop Foreman.
    • Training & Development
    • Attend and actively participate in the Apprenticeship Program, demonstrating competency in acquired skills.
    • Assist in training and mentoring apprentices.
    • Continuously improve knowledge, skills, and workmanship through on-the-job training.
    • Administrative & Housekeeping
    • Complete assigned paperwork accurately and on time.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, both in the shop and at customer sites.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Education, Certification & Experience

    • Education: High School Diploma or GED (Preferred).
    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical work, ideally within the same or a related industry, or a business with a 24/7 service component.
    • Certification & Licenses:
      • Valid Driver’s License.
      • Clean Driver’s Abstract.

The candidate should have strong problem-solving skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and a commitment to safety. A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass pre-employment screenings are also essential.
