Responsibilities: Work directly with the founding team and shape the overall direction of tech development, Own backend and customer-facing web services end-to-end, from architecture through production, Make core technology and stack decisions, setting the engineering bar for future hires, Partner with the ML and biostatistics team on integrating model outputs into user-facing flows and insurer-integrated data pipelines, Architect production systems with strong automated CI/CD, observability, and reliability standards, Help establish engineering culture, hiring criteria, and interview practices as the team scales, Stay current on industry trends and bring practical, modern solutions back to the team
Qualifications: Degree from an elite university — ETH Zurich, TU Munich, RWTH Aachen, KIT, Imperial, Oxbridge, Ivy League, Stanford, CMU, or comparable, Experience at a recognizable high-growth startup or elite tech company — Personio, Celonis, Scalable Capital, Trade Republic, Stripe, Sierra, or comparable, Mid-tier schools or companies will not clear the bar, even with strong technical depth, 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, Primary backend expertise in Python and FastAPI, Production experience with a modern web stack: TypeScript, Next.js, React, Strong understanding of the full SDLC and shipping with automated CI/CD, Previous startup or comparable high-ownership environment experience, Based in Munich or willing to relocate — this is a fully on-site role, Excellent written and spoken English (working language), Healthcare or other regulated industry experience (insurance, banking), Flutter mobile experience, GCP infrastructure experience
