Additional Information
Interview Process: Our interview process is designed to be respectful of your time and focused on real-world engineering skills rather than abstract puzzles. It typically includes an initial screening call, a technical interview focused on practical system design and problem-solving, and a final conversation with leadership to align on scope, impact, and ownership. For this staff-level role, expect a deeper architecture and technical leadership discussion. We aim to move quickly and keep the process straightforward, with clear communication at every step.
Day to day: You'll work closely with the Head of Engineering, CEO, and a small senior team to design and ship full-stack features that power core customer workflows in production. Day to day work includes building backend services and APIs, implementing user-facing interfaces, reviewing code, and making architectural calls as the platform scales. You'll take ownership of major projects from scoping through deployment, help refine CI/CD and deployment workflows, maintain AWS infrastructure, and mentor other engineers.
Team: You'll join a small, senior engineering team in New York on a hybrid schedule, reporting to the Head of Engineering and working directly with the CEO and core technical leadership. The team is lean and highly collaborative, with engineers owning features end-to-end. As a staff engineer, you'll have outsized influence on technical direction and standards.
Growth: This is a high-impact, staff-level role at an early-stage, well-funded company where you'll own core parts of the platform from day one. There's room to grow into principal or technical leadership, take ownership of major product areas, and shape engineering standards and architecture as the team scales. You'll build foundational infrastructure and customer-facing systems in a production fintech environment with direct influence over long-term technical direction.
Ideal Candidate Profile: A senior, hands-on engineer based in or near New York City who wants the ownership of an early-stage team with the backing of a funded company. Strong backend depth in Python and Django with full-stack range, comfortable leading architecture and mentoring. The interview process is practical and respectful of your time, with fast feedback and direct access to technical leadership.
